Dessert was dried Mango
The last of the curry left overs for dinner
Wheat Thins for a snack - probably should have skipped them, but I feel like it could have been worse.  I ate 16, 1 serving.
Another snack - I was snackish today.
Kale chips again.  I dont know what happened to the picture...
Finished off my eating for day 2.  I'm mostly satisfied with how I did... but I would liked to have snacked less.  The longer days at work always seem to be the hardest for me.  I have to go through breakfast, lunch, snack, and late snack with the kids and my will power needs some work.  The Wheat Thins were the item I would have liked to have skipped.  Still not horrible,  I'll do better tomorrow. :)

I have derby tonight so I'll be burning off the extra calories I had with the Wheat Thins anyways...

Day 2

Breakfast was a Banana and a Grande Coffee
Lunch today was courtesy of Kelley - Crustless Quiche consisting of  zucchini, spinach,  leeks, shallot, onion.   Franks on top.  I put that shit on everything.
It's juice.  Kelley brought in her juicer and made this for snack - lemon, cucumber, carrot, celery, orange, and apple.
Day 2 is so far a success, and I can already feel my stomach adjusting to the healthy portions and food.  To quote my friends Boots, "I like myself more when I eat healthy."  I feel like I'm in a better mood, less tired, and I can already feel it in my clothes - amazing what one night of derby and eating healthy can do.

End of Day 1 (almost...)

It's not quite the end of the day, but since I have derby and wont be home until 10:30 I'm posting now about my day's journey with food.

I feel satisfied with how I ate today. :)  Huzzah!  Healthy meals, and only a portion of what I have as left overs for my dinner tonight.  On my Calorie Counting site I calculated that I've eaten 974 calories of my daily allowance of 1200.  Doesnt seem like a lot... but I'm not feeling hungry or drained of energy so I believe I've eaten enough.

Derby tonight - hopefully I'll be burning some calories.

Day 1 of my food blog = success.  For me, the more I think about, talk about, and pay attention to the food I consume the easier it is for me to eat well.  I'm lucky to have a friend who is doing the same thing as me since we can blabber on and on to each other about how we're doing and not have to worry about them being annoyed.  Let's hope day 2 is a success as well!

Snacks and Dinner

Kale chips as a snack - 1/3 of what you see
Banana as a snack - 3 pieces
Left over Curry for Dinner

Breakfast - Small apple and some nuts
The final product - Butternut Squash Soup
The ingredients for lunch

My Food Blog.

I'm taking photo's of what I eat.  Why?  To help me be accountable for what I'm eating and stick to my goals.

About 6 months ago my roller derby team had a weight loss competition - Team Tries Hard vs. Team *Diet System* (The name of the system slips my mind...)  I was on Team Tries hard, and in most people's eyes I won the weight loss competition by losing 45lbs, and so far I've managed to keep it off.  In this case I'm really glad I'm competitive since it gave me the motivation I needed to become healthier.

During these 6 months I also ran my first 5k race (3.2 miles... something I never saw myself doing...) signed up for a half marathon, and a full marathon - the half marathon is next weekend, the full is at the end of March.  They're goals.  When I have goals, I seem to do better at losing the weight and continuing to work out.

I've tried a few different things to lose this weight; exercising more, eating no carbs, eating paleo, counting calories... All seem to work well, but my favorite was just counting calories.  When I count calories if I want chocolate I can have it, just have to watch my portions.

Now the reason for my new food blog.  I'm struggling.  My marathon coaches told me that I *have* to eat more carbs, specifically the night and morning before I train for a long distance.  I told myself those would be my cheat meals.  Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, and a recovery meal after.  Sounded easy enough and I   would be burning off those calories anyways... I was wrong.

Anyone who has changed their diets knows what I mean when I say the first few days are always the hardest.  I crave carbs the first few days when I've stopped eating them, and with my new cheat days it feels like I'm having to restart every week... and I've been failing at that.  My cravings have been winning.  And this brings us back to the beginning of this post... the pictures of my food will hopefully help me be more accountable for what I'm eating and stick to my goals.

Just a test post. :)  This was a paleo snack day for Vampire Diaries.  We had Avocado Deviled Eggs, Caulitots, home made almond meal crackers, and 2 dips; guacamole and a red pepper dip.
